Rufus Wanjigi was born in Nairorbi, Kenya and immigrated to the United States when he was in the 6th grade. As a child, he always looked up into the vast expanse of the sky. As long as he can remember, flying is the only thing he’d ever wanted to do.
Rufus went to school at Kansas State University, graduating with a degree in Airway Science. He was a flight instructor for two years after, and was then hired at Flight Safety International working on the Hawker 4000 and HS-125 series aircraft. Following this, he became a First Officer on a Hawker 4000 based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Today, First Officer Rufus Wanjigi is a certified flight and ground instructor and pilot for Talon Air. He has logged over 2,500 hours of flight time, and his favorite aircraft is the Hawker 4000. To Rufus, the Hawker 4000 is a beautiful, responsive machine and he appreciates how much his passengers love its size, range, and comfort. Though he has grown up mostly in the U.S., Kenya is still very dear and close to his heart due to the sheer beauty of both the country’s landscape, and its people – including his extended family.
